Eating and Drinking
After an exhilarating trek in the hills or just a relaxing day chilling in the local area, the Machno Valley can meet all your food and beverage needs.
The Eagles is a public house (and bunk house) conveniently situated in the centre of Penmachno. Here you can enjoy a traditional Welsh atmosphere where Welsh is most often spoken and you may even hear a song or two! A perfect place to unwind, chat to the locals and enjoy a refreshing real ale in over sized glasses! On Fridays and Saturdays, good honest bar food is served and a pretty beer garden is available to the rear for sunny afternoons and balmy evenings.
At the entrance to the Machno valley is situated the Conwy Falls Cafe. Recently refurbished, this friendly contemporary bistro is the ideal place to stop for a cuppa and piece of homemade cake. The menu is stacked with pleasantly individual and enticing light meals and snacks with locally sourced or home made ingredients whereever possible. There is also outside seating on a decked area with lovely views towards the mountains. Also from here starts the walk to the stunning Conwy Falls waterfall.
Also at the entrance to the Machno Valley is the Silver Fountain. Again recently refurbished, this newly decorated traditional public house boasts a full bar and a menu of assorted conventional good old trusty pub grub, plus some more unusual dishes. Their fish and chips comes highly recommended! Parking is available around the back for those not wanting to walk.
A huge variety of further eating and drinking places can be found in nearby Betws-y-coed where restaurants, bistros, cafes and pubs can be found aplenty and also a take away chip shop. Ideal for picking up a take away and bringing it back to the Machno valley to sit by the peaceful river and enjoy the views of the rolling hills and mountains.
