Mountain Biking
The Machno valley is fast becoming a hub for cyclists, professional and recreational, famous for its new and exciting world class mountain bike trails. Visitors already travel from the far reaches of the UK and abroad to Penmachno and Cwm Penmachno to enjoy a mountain biking holiday due to the spectacular scenery of forest, lakes, rivers, streams and often phenomenal mountain views. To date there are two impressive completed loops in the Gwydyr Forest, stretching along the Machno valley. More information will soon be available once the Mentor Bro Machno website is complete. Watch this space!
There are new, very popular and equally highly rated mountain bike trails already established in the Gwydyr forest just north of Betws-y-coed just four miles away. Enthusiasts staying in Cwm Penmachno or Penmachno wishing to extend their mountain biking experience can explore these tracks too. (See Mountain Biking Wales and MTB-Wales.com) Do not despair if the fancy to take a ride hits you once you arrive in the Machno valley or if you are flying into the UK. Bikes can be hired and clothing and accessories puchased from Beics Betws (www.bikewales.co.uk) in Betws-y-coed.
If you are travelling light, on a budget and need somewhere to bed down for the night, don't forget to check out the bunk house at the Eagles Pub in Penmachno.
